Football and athletics has always seemed to be a "change" in Georgia Tech education and striving for excellence has always been the priority of Technology Georgia.

"I'm an accident of Ramblin 'Georgia Tech and a hell of engineer. A Lovely, Lovely, Lovely, Lovely, hell of an engineer. "

Those words of one of the most famous fight songs typify American spirit of athletics at Georgia Tech, a school with a history of more and honored traditions in college athletics.

Since 1892, when the first football team was organized in the plains, Georgia Tech teams in all sports have represented the Institute in an outstanding manner to produce some of the best known names in athletics. Tech has won four National Championships in football 1917, 1928, 1952 and 1990. The Yellow Jacket football teams have one of the best records in the nation in bowl games at 22-14. Over the past 100 years, Tech has only had 12 football coaches: John Heisman, Bill Alexander, Bobby Dodd, Bud Carson, Bill Fulcher, Pepper Rodgers, Bill Curry, Bobby Ross, Bill Lewis, George O'Leary, Chan Gailey and the current coach, Paul Johnson.

In the fall of 1891, before Georgia Tech organized a football team of its own, a game was scheduled between Auburn and Georgia. Due to the rivalry established in baseball games between technology and Georgia (which is still strong after more than 100 years), students at the university were invited to encourage the game, of course, Auburn. In a mass meeting, students appointed a committee to recommend colors to be worn and cheers to be used in the game. The committee suggested white and gold, and about 200 students attended the game using colors school for the first time.

In 1893, when the Tech football team played its first official game against Georgia, a group of young women Cobb Institute Lucy girls, dressed in white and gold, attended the game to cheer for Tech These ladies were among the earliest Tech supporters to show their loyalty with the use of the traditional colors.

The Yellow Jacket nickname and mascot are two of the most beloved brands of Georgia Tech sports teams, but there are many conflicting stories about the origins and the beginnings of the yellow jacket. One thing is clear, however, is that the nickname did not grow out of the six-legged relatives of insects, but pet insect, known as "Buzz," grew out of his nickname.

Since what we can determine, the first reference to that university students as "Yellowjackets" appeared in the Atlanta Constitution in 1905 and became common usage at that time.

Historians say the name, written as a word, first was used to describe supporters who attended Tech athletic events, dressed in coats and yellow jackets. The actual mascot was conceived at a later date.

Another common nicknames which have applied to Georgia Tech teams include engineers, which is still used by some writers, technicians, the first known nickname was removed sometime around 1910, and Herreros, which was common between 1902 and 1904. Georgia Tech football has one of the more "apartment" traditions and historical memories in College Football … Here's a new TECH Fans just a few that we all remember:

The Game Cumberland. On 17 October 1916, John Heisman's team crushed Cumberland College 222-0 in the most unequal and the highest score in the game of college football history.

The Rose Bowl 1929, when Roy Riegels Cal ran the wrong way, Tech won 8-7 and won its second national championship.

October 3, 1942, when Tech finally Notre Dame won for the first time in eight attempts, 13-6. Freshman Clint Castleberry phenomenon threw a touchdown pass in his only season in floors, before dying, while piloting a plane during WWII.

November 6, 1976: Tech 23, Notre Dame 14. In the "Passless upset," the Jackets _ with students freshman QB Gary Lanier Pepper Rodgers runs the option perfectly _ not throw a pass on striking the Irish.

November 11, 1978: Tech 42 for the Air Force 21. In the frozen tundra in Colorado Springs, Eddie Lee Ivery ran wild for 356 yards, breaking the NCAA single-game record rushing.

8 November 1980: Tech 3, Notre Dame 3. Bill Curry as first team coach jackets surprised the undefeated No. 1 in Ireland and almost beat them before a late tying field goal.

November 3, 1990: Tech 41, Virginia 38. In Charlottesville, likely the most important victory in the annals of Tech, the Jackets staged a dramatic comeback against the potent offense of Virginia 1. Shawn Jones and William Bell led the resurgence, and Scott Sisson field goal with 7 seconds stunned UVA and sent to technology in the National Championship.

Tradition and integrity continues to GA Tech as one of the most famous alumni, Bill Curry, now returns to Atlanta to help build Georgia State University on a football contender. Curry has been named the First Head Coach of the Atlanta University establishing and building a football program, starting play in 2010.

No woman would deny care to children, family members or parents. This is because most of us are natural caregivers of infants. But, Who cares when we're older and need care?

We grow and have kids. Depending on when the blessed event, who have completed our education and are working reasonably well-paid work, or who have children before completing the education and the beginning of a career. Strike one.

From the day we are born we are taught that women grow up, marry and have kids. We are brainwashed into believing that this is what is expected of us and this is what naturally goes to produce. What nobody tells us is that by having children and taking things in the workforce, too willing to give years of income, years of contribution to social security and years to contribute to our own retirement and our own independence.

Where are the men all these years? They are working to protect their own years of income, contributing to social security and the creation of a reserve for retirement to care for them when they retire. No one is thinking about women during this time and the compensation they are entitled to make this sacrifice, which affect them when they are older. The society does not deal with these issues. If they did would have far fewer children being born today.

So after children are born, many women re-enter the workforce. Strike two. We do not realize how hard it is to regain the same position, income or situation that we left. In many cases, our skills and education are obsolete and positions that qualify to pay less. In some cases we have to go back to school to educate ourselves further. Who pays for this?

Moreover, if we have relied on a husband to provide for us during rearing years, and we have focused on children rather than the relationship with our husband, is possible that in our way to divorce. Strike Three.Now not only have to support ourselves, we must support our children, to provide shelter, education, etc and our children grow up in a disadvantaged position.

Life becomes more difficult and more complicated and many women struggle to barely survive. Everyday Life becomes an uphill battle for women.

Most retirement-age women are at financial risk of not being able to care for self themselves. When you enter a nursing home in America today, who do you see? You see women. Women live longer than men, earn less and have less income to carry them through retirement years.

If you are a woman, single, married, divorced, children, widows with children or without you must wake up to the realization that regardless of their current situation has to be prepared to care for himself financially, mentally and physically. To be more selfish, to waive less. Start now. Industry professionals can contact support you in your desire for independence. Get more education, more research. Do not stay ago.
