Should protect the edge of my table tennis paddle?
I just bought my first premium quality table tennis paddle, about $ 90, and really want to preserve as much as possible. I wipe with a damp paper towel and Saran Wrap after every time I play, but I noticed that the edge of gum is torn from hitting the table as I play. Should I protect against this? Are there other things I should do too?
Manufacturers table tennis template (such as Yasaka, Donic, Tibhar, etc) that the tape on end, but had to do a special order them or contact a seller through your local association of table tennis (or USTTA if you are in the U.S.). In tournaments usually have equipment suppliers create big table tennis tables all accessories you can imagine, including the tape edge. You can probably use a tape length of the court house to the width or something similar on hand to do the same thing, though. Certainly get a case of racket. Again, this is a special product, it is unlikely to be found conveniently at any local mall. But Still, there lots of substitutes. I used a badminton racket cover for a long time, although I have played in national competitions and you'd think I'd use a real table tennis event. I did not care, it worked. Case of the first racket of my father was done for my mother, who sewed one together and launched a zipper on it. And dries quickly when cleaning racket (prefer a damp cloth on a paper towel) … prolonged exposure to air or water 'whitening' the rubber, reducing its elasticity and grippiness. Management gum does not help, but I'm assuming you know enough to keep the feet of the surface as much as possible. And for God's sake, stop hitting the table! It does wonders for the sheet are, no matter the rubber.
