I know that for many people, millions of people, times are tough. But if you have the idea and the media, I point out a real bargain travel – Iceland.
Iceland is usually a very expensive destination. But in my opinion, as someone who has lived and worked in this country which has always worthwhile. It is a very exotic and beautiful country. World Downtown Reykjavik, the capital, is quaint and old. It is a great place to walk in it is relatively small and pedestrian traffic. The nightlife in Reykjavik is almost famous in the world, if they want. At the other end of the spectrum, Iceland offers opportunities for the generous nature, such as: hiking, horseback riding, whale watching, fishing, camping, climbing and the list goes on. Lots of places offer these activities, let's be honest. But what Iceland makes it so unique is its unspoiled nature and striking landscapes. There are few places on earth where air quality is that good and so pure environment.
But I digress. Why Iceland is a lot right now is a direct result of this global economic crisis. The exchange rate is very, very favorable for travelers foreign, especially U.S. and Europe. As of this morning, 22 October 2008, the exchange rate of U.S. $ to ISK (called crowns) is almost 118. That means that every dollar spent is worth 118 crowns. A normal rate is in zone 80. Let's put this in practical terms. If you went to dinner at Iceland and spent 5,000 Icelandic crowns for lunch than dinner at the exchange rate of 80 would cost $ 62.50, the exchange rate of 118 than the same meal will cost $ 42.37. This represents a savings of 32%.
What This, apparently, is to reduce the cost of a trip to a cool (no pun) and the only foreign land to a level that is comparable with costs in the U.S..
Also, flights to Iceland are very competitive right now. The only company U.S. Air Icelandair is and they are offering great deals now. To view the best deals, I recommend registering as Icelandair called, "the rates of luck." They will send emails to your current offerings and provides access to their website to book tickets in your area of business.
Course There are other good travel deals out there and maybe Iceland is not your cup of tea. But in all countries that have experienced fluctuations in its currency, Iceland has been hit harder making a particularly good deal. I know that sounds a little profit from the misery and maybe it is. But to actually travel to Iceland would be helping their situation, albeit a very small way, to receive foreign capital and you have to visit one of the most pristine environments left on earth.
If all this sounds good, here's a little primer of what to expect. First you should know that Iceland, as expected, has a temperate climate that leans toward fresh and cold. The weather in autumn can be notoriously fickle. You could have a beautiful warm day with light winds and clear skies and wake up with a layer snow. Therefore, put layers, waterproof shoes and a winter coat that can withstand rain and wind.
You do not need to exchange money once you get into the country. You can use your Visa or Visa debit card everywhere. I always see people queuing at the airport to exchange their dollars and I wonder why. You can stay in guest houses around the country or if you want to, no hotels. Rental cars are expensive, but if you want to see the country with full autonomy worth the cost.
You also may want to look at the tours many Iceland available, there are plenty to choose from. I would recommend the title = "excursions to the glaciers of Iceland"> Iceland glacier tours. All-in-all, great deals of this type in title = "Holiday Iceland"> Iceland vacation can not come back. – David Brooks
