| I have been a Smartwool sock wearer for a few years now and highly recommend the Smartwool Hiker as a comfortable, durable, and excellent sock. After several years of trying various wool socks I was a big fan of wool rag socks, and somewhat hesitantly tried a pair of Smartwool socks that were given to me as a gift. I was quickly hooked. These socks perform better for keeping feet dry than any other socks I have tried. The merino wool that they are made with is extremely comfortable. They also wear very well. With a little laundry care, the Smartwool socks I have used have lasted longer than any other socks I have tried, and remain comfortable throughout their lifespan. They may be a bit more expensive than other brands, but if you are particular about your socks they are worth every bit. |

| After using synthetic socks for activities from in-line skating to hiking and loving them, I found out about Smartwool socks after bying a Smartwool zip t-shirt for use as a mid layer for outdoor winter activities. These socks are incredibly comfortable with great padding on the bottom. They also kept my feet nice and warm when hiking in the snow with it being 20 degrees outside. I would highly recommend them. |
same great socks!

the only draw back was not having a size chart available for these socks.

Here's my laundry list:
Pros:
-Soft
-Look cool (lines along each side w/ differentiating color). I like the gray ones the most.
-Breathable
-Absorbant
Cons:
-Tough (not that stretchy). I guess you could consider this a pro, too
-Not that warm in the winter
-This is just a con in general about wool socks. Since they're more expensive, I take better care of them than my other clothes, and so I was these by hand. Since they soak up so much water, it generally takes a while to clean these. Once cleaned, they take anywhere between 1.5-2 days to try at room temperature.
I would recommend these to anyone. I'm never going back to cotton socks! |
