What if all the employees came to work every day with the drive and determination of Olympic athletes? Something positive, safe! Individually, employees would deliver exceptional performance. Olympic athletes strive to always give his best individual performance. A team level, employees would be doing enough to help the team achieve its goals. Olympic athletes are willing to work together to deliver the best results for the team. This type of performance produces positive results at both levels: individual and team.
Of course, the dominant approach in the Olympics is "win." However, athletes are motivated by different things. Some want to win for his country. Some want to win for personal fulfillment. Some want to win for his team. And some want to win by a combination of reasons. You can encourage your employees to strive for higher levels of performance using motivation strategies Olympic athletes. Performance Motivator 2: Work for the Good of the team
Some Olympic athletes will do whatever necessary to help the team win. Sometimes This means playing a specific role. Other times, when filling in the middle of someone is injured. It could also mean just sitting on the bench, while others perform. These athletes want to work for the good of the team because they support what the team is trying to achieve. To encourage such teamwork of its employees, make these four things:
1. Explain the importance of team goals.
2. Explain how individual performance impacts positively to the achievement of team goals.
3. Explain how equipment products and services benefit customers and the community.
4. Explain how performance Individual equipment aid the delivery of products and services that benefit customers and the community.
Performance Motivator 3: Working For Yourself
Some athletes have something they are trying to prove themselves. Maybe they have tried to win a medal, but failed. Or maybe you have won a medal and they want two. Better yet, maybe just have a personal desire to excel. In summary, these athletes have personal and professional goals. Your employees have goals too. There may be searching for a gold medal, but they are fighting for something. Inspire their employees to achieve their goals to do these four things:
1. Explain that you support the realization of their individual goals.
2. Explain how individual performance affects the achievement of individual goals.
3. Explain how organizational success can affect the achievement of individual objectives.
4. Explain how the team's success can affect the achievement of individual objectives.
Olympic Focus is a high performance focus
While employees can not perform like Olympic athletes, can inspire higher levels of performance by using these strategies athletes use to keep motivated. Olympic athletes work for themselves and their teams. Your employees able to do so. Just explain such high performance can lead to positive outcomes for the individual, team and organization.
